Clicksuite 360 BLOG:OUT 360 VIEW OF INTERACTIVE MEDIA

April 19, 2010

While most homeowners in New Zealand scramble to get a sea view, overseas city dwellers scramble to get a view (any view!).

Their wish may soon come true thanks to this alluring prototype from Winscape.

The system tracks your movements in relation to a window, mimicking a realistic view out of the window.

This prototype of Winscape uses two 46-inch Panasonic plasma screens, a Mac, Wii remote and a custom-built infrared-emitting necklace.

An iPhone app allows you to remotely switch scenes, creating a panorama through the two virtual windows (which can display stills or video and audio).

Years ago Click Suite created a similar installation for the Australia/New Zealand Leadership Forum that was held in the grand surroundings of the Government House in Wellington.

The idea we came up with was to create a pair of "paintings" to be positioned either side of the entrance to the ballroom. With gilt-edged picture frames, the display at first looked like any other artwork in the room.

However, a second glance showed that the "paintings" (which were, in fact, entirely digital) changed over time. View this project.

So, if you're excited about the possibility of a digital landscape in your space, a virtual window, or even outside - talk to us - we've got the experience and loads of ideas!
