If you're one of those people who has a hard time conceptualising something as vast as space, then fasten your seat belt and check this out:
Thanks to the fabulous TED conference (which I've blogged about many times since attending in 2009) this talk, which was delivered at Long Beach last February, is from Carter Emmart and shows a demonstration of space in full 3-D.
It's a full 3-D model of space, which has been 12 years and many scientists in the making. And it's AWESOME.
(Carter has the coolest job title I know - he's Head of Astrovisualization at the American Museum
of Natural History.)
