Software engineer, Christopher Finke, recently released a YouTube Comment Snob extension for Firefox that filters out a legion of inane and offensive comments from user threads (discussions) beneath YouTube clips.
So if you’ve ever ‘read’ the comments beneath a YouTube clip you may be left crying in dismay at the future of civilization, wondering how America became the most powerful nation on earth or, depending on your perspective, doing cartwheels of joy for the victory of ‘open democracy’.
This extension lets you filter out these types of comments:
- More than X number of spelling mistakes: The number of mistakes is customizable, and the extension uses Firefox's built-in spell checker.
- All capital letters
- No capital letters
- Doesn't start with a capital letter
- Excessive punctuation (!!!! ????)
- Excessive capitalization
- Profanity
